The Catalan startup Cooling Photonics, specialized in development of refrigeration technologyó to reduce energy consumption, has closed its first round of investment for a value of 630,000 euros. The emerging company has created a system based on deeptech technologies such as nanotechnology and photonics which allows to reduce the temperature of any material, so that it also decreases its energy consumption and improves its efficiency.

According to the CEO of Cooling Photonics, Javier Achiaga, “excess heat causes a loss of device efficiency, causes breakdowns that can disable them and increases their energy consumption. For this reason, the startup has developed “sustainable cooling technologies that prevent or reduce the overheating of any material”.
This solutionó “allows any surface to be cooled in a sustainable way, without energy consumption or pollution, simply by maximizing the natural capacity of the material to release excess heat and reduce its temperature”, all with the aim of improving the efficiency of the devices, says Achiaga. With this investment round, led by the network of business angels of’Esade Alumni, Esade BAN, and by l&rsquo ;association of women business angels WA4STEAM (which invests in startups with women in the founding core, seeking to expand the female presence in companies in the STEAM fields), the valuation of the emerging company increases to 3 million euros.
