The Advanced Materials Cluster of Catalonia (Clúster MAV) is a non-profit, technology-based association. Its strategy targets innovation and its main purpose is to make businesses and organisations in the advanced materials sector value chain more competitive.
The Clúster MAV sponsors initiatives and actions designed to enhance the advanced materials business by fostering and harnessing synergies between partners and related sectors. It delivers technology information and market data to its members to promote business opportunities through win-win collaborations, innovative solutions and high added value projects.
The Clúster MAV was set up in 2015 with the support of the Catalan Government’s ACCIÓ Catalonia Trade & Investment agency. It has been part of ACCIÓ’s Catalunya Clústers programme since its inception. In 2021 it was recognised as an Innovation Cluster.
The working groups are designed to bring new actions to life for our partners, conduct technology watch in each area, gain fresh contacts and generate innovative collaborative projects.
Working group which promotes knowledge transfer in nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, including synthesis and their implementation in devices, microfabrication and advanced characterisation techniques and other methods for industrial use.
Made up of a group of businesses in various kinds of materials including plastics, composites, metals and ceramics who share the need to gain greater insight into the technologies, materials and properties of end-products involved in additive manufacturing technology and 3D printing.
This working group is made up of lightweight materials manufacturers, processors and end-users and seeks to meet the need to drive the rollout of these materials in Catalan industry.
Since materials play a key role in industry’s capacity for circularity, this working group seeks to share knowledge and tools to optimise industrial processes, close production cycles and shift today’s linear economy towards the circular economy model.

Since its inception, the MAV Cluster has been part of ACCIÓ's Catalonia Clusters Program. To be part of it, you must meet a series of requirements that guarantee professional management and adequate representation in the territory.
Being part of the program allows the MAV Cluster to obtain, among others, strategic guidance from ACCIÓ, to train the management bodies and technical staff, to network with other clusters of the Program and to access lines of exclusive financing both for the cluster and for the companies that are part of it.
The MAV Cluster has the Cluster Management Excellence seal of quality received by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA).
The seal certifies the interest in approaching excellence in management and endorses the commitment and effort of the team that is part of the MAV. The recognition, among other benefits, gives access to a network of international contacts.
In 2021 the MAV Cluster was recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (MINCOTUR) and the General Direction of Industry and SMEs with the Innovative Business Group (AEI) seal, an accreditation that recognizes the innovative nature and collaborative of the entity.
Being part of the AEI program allows the MAV Cluster to opt for member benefits and annual subsidies for the development of innovative and R&D projects.
The MAV Cluster is a collaborating entity of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), which gives partner companies the opportunity to benefit from the business cooperation services offered by the project, such as the search for international partners, support for internationalization, advice on taxation, procedures or free trade agreements.
The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) connects businesses in 47 countries, including the European Union. The EEN is an initiative of the European Commission created in 2008 to help SMEs to be more competitive by developing their innovative capacity and opening up to new markets.
